Shri. K. Krishnankutty, Minister for Electricity represents Chittur Constituency of Palakkad district in the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. As son of Kunjukutty and Janaki he was born on 13th August 1944 at Ezhuthani, Chittur. He is serving as Minister for the second term in the LDF ministry headed by Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan. Previously, he served his term as the Minister for Water Resources in the first LDF ministry.
Initially, he joined the Indian National Congress in 1964 and later became an active member of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee till the inception of Janata party. As part of his social and political career he held various positions like Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee member, National Labour Organization state treasurer, Janata Party Palakkad district president, Janatha Dal national executive member and state secretary general, Perumatty Service Co-operative Bank ; president( since 1970), State Co-operative Bank director,Agricultural Processing and Marketing Society president and State Agriculture Policy drafting Committee chairman (2011-16).

Earlier, he was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1980, 1982, 1991 and 2016. Basically, he is a farmer and a strong supporter of the co-operative sector. He introduced Hi-tech and precision farming and it was implemented in Chittur for the first time in Kerala.
